We are excited to announce new OmniCube platforms today. The CN-3000 is getting a refresh and it is being joined by the CN-2000 and the CN-5000. We have spent a tremendous amount of time with customers over the last year and these new platforms are a direct result of their feedback.
The OmniStack Global Federated Architecture allows a distributed Federation of OmniCube systems to be managed with vSphere Client. This unified management is combined with our ability to apply a policy to individual virtual machines to create a deduplicated, compressed, optimized backup. The backup can be stored both locally as well as in the centralized data center. If there is no central data center, the remote offices could backup to each other as well.
What does this have to do with the new platforms? Customers asked us for a more compact OmniCube system that fits these smaller remote offices and the CN-2000 does just that. Each CN-2000 contains 6-8 cores, 128GB of DRAM, and 5-10TB of capacity. If the remote office outgrows a single system, then simply plug in another one and scale out the infrastructure with no interruption to service.
I pulled the picture below from a recent customer presentation and it represents a common use case we are seeing, in which two primary data centers serve as the DR destination for a set of remote offices.
We also have been listening to customers with ultra-high performance requirements. Our customers are running Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, and ERP systems on the CN-3000 today. Large enterprises are testing SAP and even larger instances of these core business applications. In order to provide the extreme performance required for some of these application environments, we have created the CN-5000. The CN-5000 delivers 12-24 cores, 384-768GB of DRAM, and 14-21TB of capacity. We have increased total system performance by running 20x10K RPM drives and boosting the SSD size up to 1.6TB or 3.2TB. These systems are designed to handle the busiest business applications in the data center.
All of the SimpliVity platforms run the same OmniStack software. This allows all of our systems to join the same federation and communicate with each other without any additional configuration. The same simple backup policy will allow backups to flow to any OmniCube system.
OmniStack is designed from the ground up to be platform agnostic. This allows us to quickly respond to customer demand and adapt as platforms evolve. As we continue to expand globally, we will continue to gather feedback from our customers and expand our OmniCube options to meet all of the market requirements. We already have a few new ideas in the works. If you have a platform recommendation, post a comment here and we will consider it in a future update.
