SimpliVity recently introduced an upgrade in the OmniCube hyperconverged infrastructure portfolio. With the introduction of the OmniCube CN-2200, an upgraded replacement for the CN-2000, broader scalability allows our smaller configuration in the OmniCube family to solve more customer needs—at a lower price point!
The CN-2200 now comes with several configurations of Intel Ivy Bridge processors:
- Single 8-core
- Dual 8-core
- Dual 10-core
- Dual 12-core
In addition to CPU choices, CN-2200 hyperconverged infrastructure also provides a wider range of memory choices: from 128GB (71GB usable) to 512GB (455GB usable). The storage configuration stays the same with an effective capacity of 5 to 10TB, depending on the efficiency of deduplication and compression on your data.
But wait, that’s not all! OmniCube CN-2200 is available at a lower price point in every like-for-like comparison with the CN-2000. In fact, this combination of greater scalability and lower price point is already providing customers with a more economical hyperconverged infrastructure solution for use cases such as Remote Office and VDI.
Previously, OmniCube CN-2000’s CPU and memory configurations limited it to a more narrow set of use cases. The introduction of the CN-2200 now expands the capabilities at the lower end. One of the exciting use cases OmnCube CN-2200 can tackle well is VDI. With VDI, storage capacity needs are generally low, while compute and memory needs tend to be disproportionally higher. OmniCube CN-2200’s ability to combine a smaller storage footprint with a higher CPU/RAM footprint fits very well with customer demand.
OmniCube CN-2200 is available now. No worries if you currently have OmniCube CN-2000 systems in place; customers can easily run OmniCube CN-2200 systems in the same vSphere cluster with existing OmniCube CN-2000 nodes. You get all the same OmniCube Data Virtualization Platform benefits, global unified management and enterprise functionality.
