Gartner analysts Mike Cisek and Jeffrey Hewitt have just released a new report focused on the challenges that are specific to the midmarket, recommending hyperconvergence to simplify the data center.
“Midmarket I&O leaders spend nearly 70% of their IT budgets to “run the business” — Mike Cisek and Jeffrey Hewitt, Gartner, “Simplify the Midmarket Data Center With Hyperconverged Infrastructure Solutions.” 24 June 2015.
At SimpliVity, we see this as a consistent challenge across the thousands of customers, executives and administrators we speak to: they are spending too much time “keeping the lights on.”
Our IT environments are only getting more complex. With eight to 12 separate and discreet applications and appliances needed just to run workloads, store, protect and transfer data, the amount of time spent on manual and menial tasks is mind-blowing.
Think about your own environment:
- When’s the last time you ran a full backup during the day?
- When’s the last time you tested your DR?
- How do you feel when you need to do a patch, or an upgrade and you’ve first got to consult the 30-page interoperability matrix?
- How many screens do you use just to monitor or provision?
- What happened the last time you attempted an upgrade?
If you’re like our other midmarket customers, you don’t have 100 or 1,000 storage, server, backup, disaster recovery, virtualization, database, network, application administrators to manage all of this stuff. You don’t have infinite time. You want to go home to have dinner with your family and maybe watch your kid’s soccer game over the weekend.
Well, according to Gartner, hyperconvergence is the answer. And we believe SimpliVity is a great option.
Hyperconvergence provides all IT below the hypervisor, assimilating all IT needed to run production virtual machines (VMs) and applications.
It provides simplicity. It gives you time back in your day. It protects your data locally and remotely, and it reduces your total cost of ownership by at least 3x.
Against the competitive options that were also profiled in Gartner’s report, we believe SimpliVity stacks up pretty well:
SimpliVity provides all three forms of native data protection, including integrated VM backup, replication and backup to cloud. From product design to general availability, SimpliVity built native data protection into its core. With SimpliVity, you don’t need to purchase separate backup applications or appliances. And, you’ll notice: all is included at no cost, and at a lower cost than most of our competition per the chart in the back of the report. In fact, SimpliVity can scale both in and out, from as few as one node to very large, distributed scale-out infrastructure across many sites.
SimpliVity packages two appliances that are great for the midmarket. The OmniCube, which is 100% manufactured by SimpliVity, and the OmniStack Integration Solution with Cisco UCS, where SimpliVity packages its software and OmniStack Accelerator Card with the fastest growing x86 server platform in the Cisco UCS.
Isn’t it time you simplified your data center (and your life?). Read Gartner’s report for more information.
