September marks my fourth month at SimpliVity. I am one of about 100 new employees this quarter to start riding SimpliVity’s hyperconvergence wave. It’s a thrilling ride, and extraordinarily rare to find a company that’s disrupting an entire industry. We’ve already become the fastest IT infrastructure company to reach $1+ billion – but we’re still growing to meet the massive demand.
Now with more than 600 team members, we’re adding about 10 people per week. But it takes more than hiring to build the fastest growing technology company in history, we have to prepare our workforce for the ride.
- Welcome Wagon – We know it’s exciting and challenging to start at a new company, so we show our appreciation and excitement for new team members by welcoming them with a bouquet of flowers before their first day. Everything is also ready when they arrive on-site: computer, monitor, passwords, etc. are laid out, and often enough, there’s a little welcome sign drawn on their whiteboard.
- Preparation – Prior to a new employees’ start date, each manager takes the time to map out the first few weeks of a new hire’s tasks, including meetings with key people, webinars, training sessions, and online certifications. On Day 1, we assign a guide to show them around, introduce them to the department, and act as a resource for questions. In Westborough, SimpliVity’s headquarters, they finish this tour by enjoying our catered lunch in the cafeteria, which is provided to employees for free every day.
- Orientation – We hold an official new hire orientation once a month, but this isn’t an average orientation. Our CEO, Doron Kempel, runs the new hire orientation. Over four hours, he explains the “big picture” behind SimpliVity, every message, every process, and the purpose of our company. Who better to paint that picture than the man that made it all possible? He also takes the time to meet each new team member, everyone has a chance to introduce him or herself and Doron knows everyone’s name by the end of the day.
We do all of this to ensure our new team members feel at home at SimpliVity and are prepared to ride the hyperconvergence wave. We understand how hectic starting a new position can be, and revolutionizing an industry isn’t easy, so we take every possible step to make sure everyone is ready for their new role.
As of today, we have more than 100 positions open at SimpliVity. Do you want to join the wave?
