SimpliVity’s team recently returned from VMworld 2015 in San Francisco, where we were showing off our new OmniStack 3.0 Data Virtualization Platform software and multiplatform approach.
OmniStack 3.0 Data Virtualization Platform is a globally-aware file system with data optimization techniques that enable a single, shared, and scalable compute and storage resource pool across multiple sites, while providing highly-efficient data storage, management, and mobility. The OmniStack Accelerator Card is a purpose-built PCIe card that offloads OmniStack’s global inline deduplication, compression, and optimization processes to ensure primary CPU resources are available to serve business applications.
Most importantly, the OmniStack Data Virtualization Platform and Accelerator Card are x86 platform agnostic, so they have the ability to integrate with any x86 server. SimpliVity currently offers its hyperconverged solution on 2U servers sold as OmniCube or on best of breed x86 servers, sold as OmniStack. This server-agnostic portfolio approach enables customers to have x86 choice by providing a flexible architecture and a wide-array of options – from the number of cores, memory, and number of HDD and SSD drives.
At VMworld 2014, we launched our OmniStack Integrated Solution for Cisco UCS. Since then, our partnership has taken off, helping us expand our deployment base with customers around the globe like Land O’Lakes in Minnesota, Assured Guaranty in New York, Francis Drilling Fluids in Louisiana, and the Ville d’Issy-Les-Moulineaux in France. These customers, among many others, have gained dramatic increases in performance, data efficiency, ease of use, and reduced their TCO. SimpliVity is a Cisco Preferred Solution Partner and TSANet partner, and its solutions for UCS Director and UCS are certified as Cisco Compatible.
Right before VMworld 2015, we also announced that SimpliVity is partnering with Lenovo to deliver our OmniStack Solution with Lenovo System x3650 M5 servers. Customers will benefit from SimpliVity’s hyperconverged technology with Lenovo’s enterprise servers as the foundation. The partnership is a response to customer demand – SimpliVity is able to respond to the needs and requirements of its customers because it was built from the ground up to be server agnostic.
In addition, SimpliVity architected our OmniStack Data Virtualization Platform to work with not only any x86 server, but also any OS virtualization technology, any management tool, and any cloud provider.
OmniStack integrated systems consist of customer choice enterprise-grade x86 servers along with the SimpliVity OmniStack software and Accelerator Card. Clustering multiple OmniStack-powered hyperconverged infrastructure units forms a shared resource pool and delivers high availability and efficient scaling of performance and capacity. Instances of OmniStack-powered hyperconverged infrastructure within and across data centers form a federation that can be globally managed from a single interface via VMware vCenter.
All the different x86 platform systems can exist in a single federation with the same enterprise capabilities across all platforms. Through this platform agnostic approach, SimpliVity delivers to its customers choice, flexibility, and control, while also benefiting from the best of both worlds – x86 cloud economics and enterprise class capabilities.
