For our friend Mr. Scrooge, the future was grim.
After years of refusing to embrace new solutions that would simplify his infrastructure and make life better for his users and employees, Scrooge became witness to the devastation he had wrought.
Taking him a few years into the future, we took a stroll through his company’s offices. Scrooge noticed the rows of empty cubes, and overheard the murmurings of a failing business that was unable to innovate ahead of the competition, given the slow and complicated infrastructure that Scrooge insisted on keeping.
And what of Bob Cratchit? Poor Bob missed Tiny Tim’s graduation, along with so many other milestones from the young boy’s life, because he was asked to come into the office to troubleshoot yet another storage issue.
Finally, I pointed to Scrooge’s office, now abandoned.
“What is this? Where are my things? What’s happened to my business? What are you trying to tell me?!”
And then, alas, Ebenezer saw the light.
“Okay, okay, I get it. I’ll upgrade our infrastructure. I’ll find a way to simplify IT and respond more quickly to the needs of my business users! I’ll make life easier for Bob so he can spend more time with his family and focus on growing the business, instead of troubleshooting our complex infrastructure!”
When I released Scrooge from my spell, he awoke in his office and found that no time had passed.
And where is he now? Well, Old Ebenezer Scrooge finally replaced his legacy stack with SimpliVity hyperconvergence. And what a difference that has made.
First, Bob is really showing off his agility as an employee; spending his time innovating the IT department and coming up with new product ideas, the company is sure to have a prosperous 2016. Their customer service is winning awards, they have a shiny new website is responsive and fun, tier 1 apps that are humming along, and the company’s employees and culture are held up as industry standards. Plus, Scrooge couldn’t be happier that the infrastructure has already paid for itself with the 3x TCO savings SimpliVity hyperconvergence guarantees. He has saved so much money, he is sending each employee home with a Christmas goose and all the trimmings. A truly blessed holiday for Bob and the rest of Scrooge’s team.
And so ends our tale. Now, the question for you is, what is the state of your infrastructure? As someone who knows a little about the future, I encourage you to the time to discover why hyperconvergence is the future of the data center.
