It’s April 11th, which means one thing and one thing only for Bostonians. It’s time for the Red Sox home opener! Just after 2 p.m. EST, Fenway will officially open for the 2016-17 baseball season and fans will be pouring in to see the Sox strive for playoff greatness, and say their farewells to David Ortiz in his final season.
To celebrate, SimpliVity’s Facilities team pulled out all the stops. The office was buzzing with the excitement of opening day and everyone was decked out in their favorite Red Sox attire. And for good reason. The Facilities team held a raffle for two Red Sox tickets for their game against the Houston Astros on May 14th, along with free transportation and a $100 gift card for food and drink at Fenway. The only requirement to qualify for the raffle was that entrants must be wearing Red Sox garb. So there were plenty of Red Sox t-shirts, jerseys, and hats strolling through the SimpliVity halls all day long.
The raffle may have had the biggest drawing power, but it was far from the only baseball-themed event over the course of the day. For lunch, the SimpliVity team was treated to ball park style hot dogs, baked beans, barbecue ribs, potato salad, pasta, barbecue boneless chicken, watermelon slices, and New England clam chowder (or chowdah with the proper Boston accent!). And to top it all off, when the game was set to get underway at 2:05 p.m., ice cream was served in miniature Red Sox batting helmets.
The event was a tremendous success and was yet another reminder that the people at SimpliVity are what makes working here so fulfilling. A special thanks to Pete Manni and Megan Goodwin and the entire Facilities team for a great day and for knocking this event out of the park.
