SimpliVity’s OmniStack software, the brains behind our hyperconverged infrastructure solution, is architected from the ground up to run on any x86 platform. The flexibility of the solution is core to SimpliVity’s value to both customers and partners, and continues to influence our production vision.
Since we launched our first product in April 2013, we’ve expanded the hardware lineup to include a wide range of models covering every major use case. We now offer SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure through our SimpliVity OmniCube appliance, as well as OmniStack with Cisco UCS and OmniStack with Lenovo System x. All of these are available as pre-integrated, pre-validated solutions that are ready to deploy as soon as they the land at a customers’ site. This cuts deployment times down from days to just an hour or so.
While platforms have evolved over time, one constant remains: our commitment to Intel as a valued alliance partner. In fact, Intel recently launched its new Storage Builders program, Intel® Storage Builders, and as a leader in the hyperconverged industry, SimpliVity is one of the few hyperconverged providers that took part in the program’s launch. The Intel Storage Builders program brings together forward-looking companies across the storage industry’s ecosystem, and SimpliVity offers a new lens to the storage audience with the benefits of hyperconverged infrastructure that go beyond addressing basic storage needs.
For example, through our highly differentiated Accelerated Data Efficiency feature, SimpliVity is optimized to take advantage of Intel’s processor architecture and recognizes that Intel’s resources need to be reserved to support the business applications with high performance standards. SimpliVity’s OmniStack Accelerator Card (a PCIe card) offloads the data efficiency functions of the OmniStack software to ensure that the power of Intel processors is being guarded for the most critical needs – running enterprise applications. The benefits of this approach are tremendous storage efficiency gain – by a factor of 40:1 on average – while simultaneously increasing application performance.
As part of our strong Intel partnership, we are excited to announce support for the Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 Processors, as the latest addition to our x86 platforms. Perhaps known by the name “Broadwell,” these processors will be available as configuration options on all of our supported platforms starting now for OmniStack with Cisco UCS, and coming soon for OmniCube and OmniStack with Lenovo System x.
As a leader in the hyperconvergence market, SimpliVity will continue investing in and expanding its x86 platforms – keeping pace with Intel’s CPU roadmap and broadening our range of hardware options. Our commitment to choice and flexibility will ensure that customers and partners can enjoy the simplicity and ease of deployment that comes with a hyperconverged solution, while preserving the freedom to choose the system and platform vendor that is right for them.
