SimpliVity has had a busy summer! Just this month, we were awarded the NorthFace ScoreBoard Award from Omega Management Group Corp. for excellence in customer satisfaction, named a leader in hyperconverged infrastructure by top-tier research firm Forrester, and were listed as the CRN ARC overall winner for hyperconverged infrastructure for our dedication and commitment to the channel. And now, we’ve just released new solutions and capabilities that make our leading hyperconverged infrastructure platform even better.
Peak and Predictable Performance For Demanding Enterprise Applications Just Got Better
Flash is certainly one of the most important trends in the storage industry, with IDC predicting that flash-based storage, whether hybrid or all-flash, will account for 74% of total storage system value by 2019. When SimpliVity launched our first product in 2012, SimpliVity came to market with a hybrid solution and we’ve been watching the SSD market very closely since then to determine when would be the right time to offer an all-flash version of our solution. The price-performance ratios of SSD are now are a point where introducing the solution really makes sense for our customers. With our new all-flash option, SimpliVity provides a powerful and efficient solution for the most demanding workloads that is able to improve application performance by up to 5x, while also reducing latency for tier-one applications by 50-80% on average, at a very market competitive price point. Read more in our blog post on all-flash.
Industry’s Most Comprehensive Data Protection Just Got Better
SimpliVity is already the only hyperconverged solution that integrates built-in back-up and disaster recovery along with compute and storage, making it unique in the IT infrastructure industry. With the Ponemon Institute reporting that the average cost of downtime is almost $9,000 a minute, it is no surprise that enterprises are always evaluating how they can improve their disaster recovery posture cost-effectively. With SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure offering VM-centric local and remote backups built on the same underlying technology, it is no surprise that a recent IDC report found that SimpliVity customers improve backup/recovery and disaster recovery by 70%. Since the solution offers global inline deduplication and compression, the amount of data sent over the WAN is minimized making it possible for enterprises to replicate their data more frequently to their remote sites and reduce RPOs.
We’ve now improved our offer even further with our new RapidDR solution, which improves RTOs by automating all of the steps involved in the disaster recovery process for VMs deployed on SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure. The solution replaces manually developed run-books with an intuitive planning guide that develops automated recovery workflows in five easy steps, including the selection of VMs for recovery, power on sequence and timing, resource and network settings, and pre and post-reboot scripts. When a disaster event occurs, IT teams can resume operations quickly with one-click activation for recovery of all virtualized workloads accordingly to plan.
RapidDR is sure to improve and simplify disaster recovery for enterprise companies around the globe, but it isn’t the only new data protection feature we are releasing in this launch. We are continuing to improve upon our built-in data protection by delivering expanded application-aware SQL Server backups. This makes our capabilities for SQL Server even better, with a recent TechValidate survey showing that 83% of our customers run their SQL Server workloads on SimpliVity hyperconverged infrastructure. Our new capabilities for SQL Server backups lowers the performance overhead, enabling customers to take more frequent backups of their SQL Server environment and improve RPOs. Automatic log truncation and rotation eliminates clean-up activities and frees up additional time for IT staff.
Scalability for VDI Workloads Just Got Better
The final piece of our recent announcement comes as part of our continued momentum and leadership in virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). SimpliVity is the only LoginVSI Validated vendor in the hyperconverged infrastructure category. Our newly published reference architecture on VMware Horizon 7 shows that SimpliVity delivers superior VDI performance at a low cost per desktop with the proven and demonstrated ability to support up to 4,000 office worker desktops in a single building block of SimpliVity systems. In fact, SimpliVity recently won a head-to-head evaluation over a competing solution in rigorous performance evaluation. The company, a Fortune 150 financial services firm, chose SimpliVity’s hybrid solution over an all-flash hyperconverged infrastructure alternative for our performance and lower cost per desktop.
August has already been a busy month, and we don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. So stay tuned for more details on today’s announcement, including a blog series with more details on our new solutions, starting with all-flash!
