It was back to Vegas for VMworld this year, and Sin City did not disappoint. The SimpliVity booth was packed from start to finish – with many attendees excited to check out our genius bar, demo stations, and the many booth presentations with our team. We also had a ton of partners and customers stop by and present in our booth. One of our customers, BRG Sports, owner of popular sports brand Riddell, even brought by a customized SimpliVity football helmet!
We had some cool contests, including a daily Apple TV giveaway, and we were also helping the event crowd beat the heat by handing out free ice cream. However, the highlight of VMworld might just have been when the props master, writer, and producer from HBO’s hit show Silicon Valley helped us host our evening events with customers, partners, and friends of the company!
At the show, our team put on a number of new demos that highlighted our latest announcements, which included an automated disaster recovery solution, application-aware backups for a new VDI reference architecture, and an all-flash hyperconverged solution. Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) wrote about the new enhancements and solutions in its recent Solution Showcase, “SimpliVity OmniStack Just Got Better,” writing that SimpliVity is “taking the complexity out of managing and protecting the IT environment by collapsing the stack one step further than most hyperconverged infrastructure vendors and removing backup and replication components with its self-protecting architecture. And last but not least, it is automating disaster recovery to ensure applications are up and running as fast as possible.”
SimpliVity’s VP of product strategy, Jesse St. Laurent, expanded upon the importance of built-in data protection in his breakout session on Monday. The session, “Rethinking Data Protection: The Rise of Hyperconverged Infrastructure and Built-In Backup and Disaster Recovery” was standing room only as Jesse explained the importance of an all-in-one data center solution that incorporates more than just servers and storage, but brings in data protection as well. A few SimpliVity customers also had breakout sessions at the event, including Land O’ Lakes’ Jason Nord. In his presentation, Jason told the audience how Land O’ Lakes transformed into a truly software-defined data center with SimpliVity.
We had the tremendous opportunity to present with our partners throughout the entire event, including presentations with LoginVSI, F5, Intel, Citrix, Eaton, Turbonomic, NVIDIA, Lakeside, PC Connection, FusionStorm, and Brocade. In addition to the presentations done with our partners, SimpliVity’s VP of global channel sales, George Hope, sat down for an interview with SiliconANGLE’s Stu Miniman to discuss the growing ecosystem of partners SimpliVity has built. Stu also interviewed two SimpliVity customers, Steven Senecal of Travelport and Justin Brooks of PITT OHIO, where they explained the operational and cultural benefits hyperconverged infrastructure brought to their companies. Earlier in the week, both Doron Kempel and Jesse St. Laurent caught up with the team at SiliconANGLE to discuss the momentum of the hyperconverged infrastructure market, as well as SimpliVity’s latest announcements.
Also, during the event, SimpliVity and Intel teamed up with Cloud Physics to provide detailed analysis to show what the associated costs and implementation details would be for booth-goers specific IT environments if they moved to a hyperconverged infrastructure with SimpliVity.
Thank you to all of our partners, customer, and friends that joined us at VMworld. We hope to see you again next year!
