SimpliVity’s virtual desktop team is packing up the family truckster and heading to sunny California. Wally World? Even better. Citrix Summit 2017! If you’re planning to be at Citrix Summit, stop by and visit our booth to chat about our VDI solution, see a demo, and talk with our partners who will also be at the event: Login VSI, Intel, NVIDIA, Workspot, Liquidware Labs, Lakeside, and of course Citrix.
Citrix and SimpliVity Pack a Powerful Punch
We’re thrilled to be part of this year’s Summit, joining thousands of Citrix partners and alliance partners to talk about what’s next at Citrix and end-user computing in general. As a Citrix Premier partner, SimpliVity is deeply vested in the Citrix community, always striving to ensure that our solution supports the latest and greatest from Citrix. In fact, we just became the first hyperconverged infrastructure vendor to be qualified as Citrix Ready for XenDesktop 7.11.
SimpliVity’s Citrix reference architecture and performance testing demonstrate the power of the SimpliVity and Citrix combo. Login VSI validated testing, running XenDesktop on SimpliVity, shows excellent performance that is consistent as desktops and nodes are added over time, as measured by the very low VSIMax average, and delivers the highest density of desktops per node in the hyperconverged category – 300 hosted shared desktops per node, or 200 hosted virtual desktop deployments per node. This means organizations can start with a very small footprint – just two nodes, for example – and then quickly scale as their needs grow or as they move from the initial pilot phase to full-scale implementation.
Customers like Romac Industries, a leading manufacturer of pipe products and tools for the waterworks industry, have seen dramatic improvements in application performance and total cost of ownership (TCO) by running Citrix XenApp on SimpliVity. As Romac’s IT Manager, Russell Turley, puts it, “SimpliVity offered far better performance than Nutanix, in a smaller footprint, at a lower price.”
New VDI License Offers Even Greater Affordability
Desktop teams can now get greater savings with SimpliVity’s new OmniStack for VDI license, designed exclusively for virtual desktop deployments. The new license offers a lower entry price for VDI customers that don’t require SimpliVity’s built-in backup and replication features, such as hosted-shared deployments in XenDesktop, where the user data is backed up outside of the SimpliVity environment. It delivers the same performance, resiliency, and scale of SimpliVity, at a lower cost per desktop. Customers can still purchase the traditional OmniStack license if they want to take advantage of SimpliVity backup features for their VDI deployment, and they can easily mix and match licenses in the same environment.
