SimpliVity Recognized as Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech Innovation All-Star
Named Winner in Hardware Category for its Ground-breaking OmniCube Hyperconverged Infrastructure
WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – October 27, 2014 – SimpliVity, the leader in
hyperconverged infrastructure for the software-defined data center, today announced that that the company
was named an Innovation All-Star by the Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech.
SimpliVity was recognized as an innovator in the Hardware category for its OmniCube hyperconverged
The annual Innovation All-Stars awards recognize Greater Boston’s most innovative and enterprising technology companies and entrepreneurs. Winning companies demonstrate their dynamic ability to fuel the regional economy, attract VC funding and growth capital, add jobs and transform every area of technology. SimpliVity and the other 15 Innovation All-Stars winners will be honored at an award ceremony on Thursday, November 20 at District Hall.
SimpliVity offers a revolutionary and disruptive innovation designed to simplify and deliver significant savings in capital and operational costs. SimpliVity’s hyperconverged infrastructure technology takes the traditional compute, storage, and network switching found in the data center and converges them in an x86 server appliance form factor, along with virtualization software. The result is lots of functionality in a much smaller footprint with no need to manage devices independently. The company takes a building block approach in its design, packaging this functionality in a server appliance unit called an OmniCube. It then enables customers to scale the solution (in terms of capacity and performance) to meet its needs by combining multiple OmniCubes to create a large IT resource pool—accommodating small single sites up to large multi-site configurations that can all be managed from a single management console. SimpliVity delivers the best of both worlds: on one hand, x86 cloud economics, reducing total cost of ownership (TCO) by 3x; and on the other hand, Tier-1 enterprise capabilities: performance, data-efficiency, data protection and global unified management.
“We are honored to have been named a 2014 Innovation All-Star winner alongside Boston’s best companies,” said Doron Kempel, CEO of SimpliVity. “Our number one priority is to deliver the best possible product to our customers to drive dramatic efficiencies in their data centers. We are happy to be in a city that celebrates innovation and allows us to do so.”
SimpliVity is in high-growth mode having increased its headcount by 100 percent in 2014 while also growing its installed base from 10 to more than 100 customer deployments. To support this rapid growth, the company raised $58M in Series C funding in November 2013 from investors Kleiner Perkins, Caulfield Byers, DFJ Growth, Meritech Capital Partners, Swisscom and Accel and Charles River, bringing its total investment to date to $101M.
